Annie Smith-St-Georges is an Algonquin mother and wife whose son Yanik ended his life in 1990. In memory of her son and all young Natives struggling to find meaning in life, Annie envisioned the building of a National Aboriginal Arts and Performance Centre in Ottawa, to be designed by Douglas Cardinal. In this film, we meet Annie and her husband during the final year of their crusade for the Centre, eight years after the death of their son. The film centres around Annie's memories, and her relationships with her family, her friends (including Métis author Bernard Assiniwi) and her community (including Algonquin elder William Commanda).
