Canada has a technologically advanced indoor agriculture sector with long-standing success in the global marketplace. Canada’s greenhouse vegetable and mushroom sectors are an important part of Canadian agriculture and a source of significant economic activity within Canada, contributing $2.2 billion in farm gate sales and approximately $1.9 billion in exports in 2022. Tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers continue to be the primary vegetables grown in greenhouses, accounting for a combined 96% of greenhouse vegetable production in 2022.
